- May 18, 2008 marks the 25th anniversary of the International AIDS Candlelight Memorial, a program of the Global Health Council and one of the world's oldest civil society movements for HIV/AIDS remembrance, awareness and community action. This year's opening ceremony will be held in Lilongwe, Malawi, and 119 countries are expected to host vigils for their communities as part of this event. - Hip-hop artist and actor Common, in collaboration with MTV, has launched “A Minute” – a new lyrics contest to encourage young people to get tested for HIV. The contest offers young Americans the opportunity to submit lyrics that address the importance of HIV testing. www.aminutecontest.com
